BuildsideThe Buildside buying guides
Gifts for startup founders: choose for the person
Choose a gift for a startup founder around something they already enjoy: their morning coffee, the desk they work at, or the clothes they reach for. A familiar habit is a better starting point than another reminder to work harder.
This guide covers our own Buildside merchandise, with practical comparisons to help you choose for the person receiving it.
Match the gift to a daily habit
| If they… | Consider | Check first |
|---|---|---|
| Keep a favorite coffee cup nearby | Daily Mug | Whether they need a particular capacity or care instructions |
| Want a small addition to their workspace | Desk Pad | Available mouse space and the pad’s dimensions |
| Already wear baseball caps | Builder Cap | Preferred fit and whether they like a visible logo |
| Like wearing community merchandise | Everyday Tee or Premium Builder Tee | Their preferred color, size, and actual garment measurements |
A coffee mug when you do not know their clothing size
The Daily Mug has a warm-white design with the orange and black Buildside wordmark. It avoids the clothing-size decision. That makes it worth considering for a teammate or founder friend whose wardrobe preferences you do not know.
It still needs to suit how they drink coffee. If they only use a travel flask or need a specific capacity, ask first. Confirm care instructions before assuming a mug can go in a dishwasher or microwave.
A tee or cap when you know their style
The natural-colored Everyday Tee carries the full Buildside chest logo. The black Premium Builder Tee uses a small white stacks mark. Choose between them by the colors the recipient already wears.
The charcoal Builder Cap has an orange stacks mark and a curved brim. Its catalog option is listed as one size, which should not be taken as a promise that it fits everyone. Ask about measurements when fit matters.
A desk accessory when you know their setup
The Desk Pad is shown as a mouse pad alongside a laptop. It is a more specific choice than a full-width desk mat. Check how much space the recipient has and whether they already have a mouse surface they prefer. Our developer desk guide walks through those decisions.
Check the total and the timing before ordering
Compare the live product prices in the collection. Prices are in US dollars; shipping and applicable taxes affect the final total. Use the shipping policy and checkout’s destination options to check the order.
For a launch day, birthday, or other fixed date, contact shop support about delivery before purchasing. Read the return policy before giving clothing as a surprise. A thoughtful note about what they are building can make a small, useful gift feel personal.
